Breeding & Litters

We Received Arrow Mail
You can't have baby puppies without a sire and since we are utilizing AI to attempt this litter we are thrilled that we have safely and quickly received samples from Points Unknown.

Today our sample was received from Points Unknown. This brings us one step closer to this litter being a reality...

To follow up on our litter announcment we are thrilled to share that our sample from Points Unknown Arrow have arrived safe and sound to our wonderful reproductive vet. The sample has been tested and found viable after the long journey and we are thrilled that they are here and waiting for Clara to go into heat.

Typically Clara goes into heat every 12 to 13 months, so we expect her to cycle in July through September. You may ask why we had the samples sent from Points Unknown this early, we get it, it may seem a bit excessive. It is only June, but to be honest we did it now because we didn't want to miss a chance or risk any issues in transit. Cycles are also not always predictable and there can be a lot of factors. It is entirely possible that Clara could cycle earlier, or later, then expected and waiting to received samples could be disastrous. There are also always risks with transport, storage, and viability. In order to eliminate risk where we could and minimize stress everyone involved wanted to get the sample here, stable, and in storage before we needed it. Every time you move a sample there is a risk it will loose stability with temperature change or other damage so we wanted all of that settled long before we were dealing with a moody mommy to be. But we are thrilled to report the sample received from Points Unknown is in perfect condition and just waiting it's turn.

As you read this you are also likely realizing that we are not doing a live tie/mating - otherwise we wouldn't need a sample. We have an amazing reproductive team here and had two wonderful facilities to choose from within an hour of us (LSU and Greene, Lewis, and Associates). After discussing our options with both of these great organization, mentors, and friends we will be doing surgical AI for this planned mating and are very happy with this decision. We are also thrilled with the choice we made to work with Greene, Lewis, and Associates as our reproductive team and they will be hanging onto the sample until we need it. They are an amazing office with a wonderful team full of people that care about Clara and her future hopeful puppies. I know that they are going to put her first and help me make this process not only safe, but even enjoyable for all of us.

Don’t worry, we will be telling you more about our plans and hopefully have some great results and information for you to follow along with since our sample arrived.
